Private Railway

The photograph shows one of two pairs of ten-metre span, electrically operated swing gates installed for BP across a private railway line. The gates were automatically opened and closed in both directions by the locomotive crew triggering line side switches on the approach to the gates.

Civil work included preparation of four concrete foundations for the gate posts, together with construction of foundations for the control panel and line side switches, and associated cable ductwork.
